According to various sources, Apple has sold approximately 200,000 Vision Pro headsets since the device became available for pre-order on January 19. This is roughly in line with analyst Ming-Chi Kuo’s estimate that Apple sold 160,000 to 180,000 units in the first couple of days of pre-orders4. That’s somewhere over 40% of the 400,000 units Apple was reportedly expecting to sell in the first year.

One researcher predicts that Apple could sell 350,000 units in 2024 alone, despite the hefty $3,500 price tag5. Technopedia also forecasts that Vision Pro sales could cross the million point mark in 2025 with 1,475,000 units sold, an increase of 321%.

These numbers suggest that the Vision Pro is doing well in terms of sales, especially considering the high price and the niche market for the device. However, some analysts and experts have also warned that the demand for the Vision Pro could taper off quickly, as there are not many killer apps or clear use cases for the headset yet24. Some popular iOS apps, such as Netflix, YouTube, and Spotify, have also refused to support the Vision Pro or allow their existing apps to run on it.

Therefore, it remains to be seen how the Vision Pro will perform in the long term, and whether Apple will be able to create a compelling vision for its first VR headset.
